In an open studio , creating is easy at The Mad Platter! You are ready to walk in at any time to create the ceramic piece of your choice. Looking for a wheel throwing class? Check out our store page for Clay, Clay, Clay reservations. Wheel throwing is by class sign up only. We do not accept walk ins for wheel throwing classes,
First up - Ceramics. We are an all inclusive studio - you pick the piece and all of your products are included in the painting, firing and glazing of your piece.
Step one - choose your piece. We have over 500 pieces of pottery in stock every day. The hard part is choosing which one to work one. (or if you are going to work on several that day!) Pieces range in price from $15 to $85. We do not have a list of our pieces on line - they change with the seasons and there are so many to list!
Step two - decide how to design your piece. There are stamps, stencils, sponges, brushes, silk screens and so much more to help you decide how to create your masterpiece. Bring us your ideas so that we can help you bring them to life. The Mad Platter staff is here to help you create - just ask and we will make sure that you come away with a great design.
Step three - CREATE! Over 80 colors in stock, bursting glazes, writer bottles, specialty glazes. All of this and so much more!
Step four - leave your project with us for glazing and firing. We call to let you know when your items are ready. Traditional turn around times are 6-7 days. There may be times where this is more or less, depending on our kiln loads.
Looking for a wheeling throwing experience with wet clay? Check out our store page under Clay, Clay, Clay - reservations can be found there for a hands on clay class.
Have you tried glass fusing yet? Warm glass is fun and exciting to try. We make it simple to do and the end results are beautiful. There are no studio fees for glass fusing - your project is based off of the size of your glass base and your layers of glass. We have projects as small as a pendant and as big as a platter!
Prices start at $15 and projects are ready in 14 - 21 days for projects that need a double firing - or slumping.
Choose from our selection of jewelry projects (including bracelets, cuff links & rings), sun catchers, candle holders, wine holders, plates and bowls. We also offer wine bottle slumping. Bring us an empty bottle from your special day - maybe an engagement or wedding - and we will melt the bottle into a cheese board or slump it into a bowl to have as a keep sake.
Clay Impressions are a sweet way to remember when your little one was just this big! Call the day before you plan to come by and we will be happy to roll out clay to have ready for hand or foot impressions. You can paint or we will paint for you - the choice is yours!
We also love to have your FOUR LEGGED babies visit our studio for impressions as well! Just call to let us know when you are coming - we will be ready for you and your friend. We can pack clay discs to go for our furry friends as well - just ask.
Clay impressions take 2 - 3 weeks for turn around. Please plan accordingly if you would like these for a gift. We require a 24 hour in advance reservation for clay work. Please call the studio for a reservation.
We are frequently asked what age is good for impressions? We have done prints for babies as little as two days old.
