Ready to try something new? THROW yourself into a wheel throwing session with one of our talented wheel instructors. All levels of artists are welcome to this class. We recommend ages 7 years and up for each session. You are reserving your space for one person to throw. This is not a private session - there are up to six adults for each session.
Sessions take place in our satellite classroom at 3130 Carlisle Street located behind our main Millwood Avenue location. There is a handicap ramp located in front of OTM Gallery at 3142 Carlisle Street. Parking is available in front of either location.
Your session will last for about 1 hour. Please remember to wear appropriate clothing as things can get a little messy. Please note that long finger nails and clay are not the best of friends. Polish may chip and nails may leave gouges in your piece.
If this is your first time you can expect to throw a bowl or dish. Rome wasn't built in a day and Simone Biles didn't win a Gold medal her first day out. We know you would love to make a mug, ramen bowl or pitcher and we would love for you to! Each session (and our instructors) can & will get you to that level.
Childcare is not provided during wheel throwing.
PLEASE NOTE - Seats are provided for throwing students only. We do not have additional space in our wheel studio for non-throwing students.
Once you are finished, your piece will dry at the studio until it is ready for it's first firing. When ready, we will text you to let you know that your piece is ready to be glazed and fired at no additional cost. A staff member will text you when your final masterpiece is ready for pick up.
Please note: Some pieces will not make it through the firings. This often occurs in pottery, especially with beginners. It's like baking a cake - they are not always perfect. Yet, we try again for that perfect piece of cake. The Mad Platter is not liable for any broken or lost pieces. (That's how the cookie crumbles) Thrown pieces are kept for 90 days. We cannot be responsible for any items left after 90 days.
Wheel throwing sessions are non-refundable. We can credit your session for another time or in house use with more than 24 hours notice.
